(by dailynewsph.com  11/2/2016)

Internationally recognized artist and painter Elito “Amang Pintor” Circa created another masterpiece portraying the signature pose of President Rodrigo Duterte using his own blood, November 1.

Circa narrated in an interview with the ABS-CBN he asked a nurse to extract his blood and place it in test tubes so he could use it to paint. “I had to paint fast and keep the blood-filled vials in a refrigerator as the blood will spoil in a matter of days,” he added.

The portrait depicts several images of Duterte, the presidential seal, and Philippine eagle. One of the highlight of this portrait is the image of President clutching a crocodile by the snout.

According to Circa, the President’s performance impressed, and inspired him to paint his image.

Known for preserving the indigenous arts, Circa’s advocacy has inspired other Filipino artists to use local or native materials as their medium.

“Bilib talaga ako sa kanya. Minsan negatibo siyang magsalita pero parang kaibigan lang ‘yan na naiintindihan mo kahit iba pa ang pananalita niya. Marami na siyang nagawa [I really admire him. Though he sometimes speaks negatively, he’s just like a friend whom you can understand even when he speaks rough. He has already done a lot],” he said.

With regards in selling his artwork, Circa is negative about it since he considers it as masterpiece.

Aside from the president, Circa has also painted the World Boxing Champion and Senator. Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and members of his family using blood.
