The Laborers
(by Teresa Salas Danao  10/10/2007)

The clock ticks at seven
the laborers went out and work 'til noon,
with the scorching heat of the sun
in this barren country they find life
for thier families waiting for money
to sent home for their children’s need.

With small food in their mouth
to rejuvenate a small body
with big responsibility
I pity them
but what can I do
for myself is nowhere to be found
only prayers can save them from falling
on the sixth floor. In'shallah!

At night, at last work is done!
time to rest
you can hear the sound
of a man whose body is tired and lonely
may they find peace in sleeping
by God's grace may they find happiness and strength as they see
the scorching heat of the sun every morning.
