CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija - The vibrant spirit of creativity took center stage as thirty-nine (39) Novo Ecijano artists showcased their talents in the Painting Contest and Exhibition, part of the 2025 National Arts Month commemoration. Themed "Ani ng Sining, Diwa at Damdamin," the event was held at the Event Center of SM City Cabanatuan, offering a platform for local artists to share their passion and skills.


A key highlight of the event was a captivating live finger painting performance by the renowned folk artist Elito Villaflor Circa, famously known as "Amangpintor." Renowned for his unconventional use of natural materials such as blood and hair in his paintings, Amangpintor's demonstration enthralled the audience. His expressive strokes, performed entirely by hand, reflected not only his mastery of technique but also his deep connection to Filipino cultural heritage.


Adding to the rich cultural ambiance was a mesmerizing performance by the Rondalla ensemble from Mayapyap National High School. The harmonious blend of string instruments accompanied Amangpintor's artistic process, symbolizing the unity of visual and musical arts in celebrating tradition.


The competition challenged participants to create their pieces within a four-hour time frame, starting at exactly 12 noon. On display alongside the contestants' fresh works were past winning pieces from previous painting competitions, offering visitors an insightful glimpse into the evolving artistic landscape of Nueva Ecija.


The event was organized by the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija's Provincial Tourism Office, in collaboration with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, underscoring the region's dedication to nurturing creativity and honoring its rich artistic heritage.
