Train. Ride.
(by me  8/25/2010)

How often we dream of travelling either by local transit or train by any means..it's the chance that I look forward to..Away from the noise and responsiblities is by far amusing than where is my destination going to be..

I sat on the seat of the train travelling eastern of Canada..as the horn blew up in the darkest air feeling the breeze, I felt the freedom of being away from the crowded city of Vancouver..the fumes of the gas spilled each stop we made just flashback the train in Dapitan where once I lived with roomates from my hometown of Pantabangan. I closed my eyes as we cruised through the mountains silouehtted at night and I imagine I wish I'm going home to Philippines.I long to hear the vendors awakening call," mais! nilagang mais! bili na kayo! Ale! mais"..

I open my eyes and glued at the window staring at endless rivers along the rails at early morning,,just thrilled as I was carrying my long zoom lens..I didn't have a sleep..the train was shaky on bumpy hills, not good for focusing at the rocky covered with white soft mists against the tall trees, gigantic mountains. I just awed at the marvelous scenery in front of me, side to side,i looked up through the glass of the panoramic view..everywhere is amazing. Tourist passing by the seat..nobody cares how we look like at same clothes we're wearing since we board the train the night before..a place of freedom, I sighed...
As passengers boarded at Edmonton station, the noises woked me up, we just strated sleeping at eleven pm as piles of luggages thrown up above where I was seatting..I cant sleep any longer..the panoramic view was all dark and gloomy going back to sleep is a miracle, as I moved there and found out few tourist lining down the floor grabbing each own comforts.
The second night was worst than the first, it's full of kids that doesn't go to sleep..the chatters getting to know each other and telling their vacations at Edmonton mall was all fun to hear except me..I was getting so tired and the foods are not Filipino foods...I'm starting to miss the home cook meals at this point..I was tossing side by side, sleeping on the chair is not a kid for me, next time i will rent the cabin..

I woke up early morning, as the sun hitting the glass window..I forgot to take off the ear plug on both my ears..I panicked searching the digital camera..the battery was out..then I went back to my assigned seat ang grab the other camera, it wasn't working..I've been waiting for the sunrise at the prairie, by the ponds is the best place for the sun rising..I asked the tourist beside me from Nova Scotia and helped me how to shoot with this new camera I hardly used..now its the time to shoot with zoom lens but it wasn't working..I was frustrated..The sun starting to go up higher faster than I wish it didn't,,finally, the shutter starting to behave...focusing was off the center..who cares this time I knew its not going to be a good shot. I aim at the sun and I got the glare from the glass instead I took myself in the images holding the camera..As the train over speeding sounds like, there were no stopping at the prairies, than the night where i felt we where in a gloomy, darkest, quiet place. I felt a big concerned. Here, I was in the middle of nowhere, in the pitch dark, hearing some crickets by the marsh just outside by my window..I was afraid..I was alone..then I started to miss my family especially my two kids..Though I always like traveling alone..this time I do need to talk to someone..or play a scrabble board game..People noticing me taking lots of photos, turning side to side on each windows of the train..After breakfast we were halfway of Saskatchewan prairie..Another train passing toward us loaded with army vehicles passengers doing their own shooting..for what I saw hundreds of cars with machine guns and heavy equipments looks like going to Iraq....Announcing entering Manitoba was a treat..after 48 hours it feels really I traveled to Philippines and back to Canada..It's worth it..It was quite an experienced..that's how I spend my summer...visitng my mother at the nursing home was special for me to see her. She has a place in my heart....also seeing my brothers and sister, niece and nephews and in-laws and realtives was something to remember..
